What is IndiSMS? Why do we need this?
IndiSMS is a mobile application that helps people send & received SMSs in Indian languages. Anyone who likes to communicate with family, friends or want to send/receive SMSs for fun in Indian languages can download the application and use.

What is activation? Why do I need it?
Once you download your copy of IndiSMS and transfer it onto your mobile handset using a data cable or Bluetooth, you will need to have it activated before you can use it. To receive your activation code, you will need to send a SMS to the message centre indicated at the time of downloading the application. You will then receive a SMS containing your activation code. Simply feed in the code provided and you are set to enjoy IndiSMS!
 
Activation is very simple. And there are no extra charges that you will incur. Activation will simply cost you the standard charges that you usually pay the mobile operator for short messages.
 
 
If I send a SMS to my friend in any other language, except English and Hindi, it appears as square boxes. What do I do?
IndiSMS is a Unicode based application. If your friend's handset displays Hindi characters but not any other language, then it is possible that his mobile handset supports Hindi characters. To be able to view any other language, your friend will need to download and install IndiSMS on his handset.
 
 
If I want to send a message to my friend in an Indian language, does he need to install IndiSMS?
If your friend has a handset that allows him to view Hindi characters, he will be able to view your messages easily. However, for any other Indian language that is supported by IndiSMS,  he will need to download and install IndiSMS on his handset.
 
 
Will I be charged differently for the messages sent using IndiSMS?
Absolutely not! Each message sent using IndiSMS will cost you the standard charges that you pay your mobile operator for short messages. For instance, if you pay Re.1 per short message in English, it will cost you the same for a message sent in an Indian language using IndiSMS. Besides, for the beta version there are absolutely NO other service charges that you need to pay.
 
 
Why I can send only 70 characters in an Indian language message versus 160 characters in English?
IndiSMS sends messages in international standard Unicode text format. As a result, each non-English character uses two bytes per character, while English characters use only a single byte per character. But even if you wish to send a long message, continue typing and the extra characters will get split into a second message automatically.

I already have IndiSMS, but now I want to change my mobile handset. How can I get IndiSMS on my new handset?
When you download IndiSMS, it is stored on your mobile handset and not on your SIM card. So if you change your handset, you will need to download IndiSMS on your new handset and activate again. But don't worry! Downloading IndiSMS is simple and inexpensive.
 
What all languages are available right now?
IndiSMS currently supports nine Indian languages - Hindi, Marathi, Punjabi, Gujarati, Bengali, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil.
 
 
Can international users download the application? Is it possible for international users to download the beta version?
Mobile users located outside India can also enjoy the IndiSMS. While they cannot download the beta version, they can log on to Handango and purchase the unique IndiSMS application. After purchasing, they need to follow the simple instructions to download and activate IndiSMS on their handsets.
 
 
What is the procedure for downloading IndiSMS through Handango?
The process of downloading IndiSMS through Handango is very simple. Log on to the Handango website and register yourself. Buy the IndiSMS application via the simple purchasing process and on to your handset. Follow the simple activation procedure to begin using IndiSMS.
 
 
Is it possible to read incoming messages in my selected language?
If your mobile handset supports all the Indian languages that are currently a part of IndiSMS, you can easily view all messages. If not, you will need to download IndiSMS to be able to read incoming messages in your preferred Indian language.
 
Can I use my current handset (S60) to use IndiSMS? Will I need to change my handset or keypad?
Of course you can use your current handset. The wonderful thing about IndiSMS is that it is fast and easy to use, and requires minimal effort by the user. Will I be able to use IndiSMS when I am roaming outside my state/ country?
Absolutely! IndiSMS is a simple application that becomes a part of your phone seamlessly. Once you've activated it, you can send and receive messages in the standard manner even if you're roaming outside your state or country.

Does IndiSMS work with both GSM and CDMA handsets?
- Currently IndiSMS is compatible only with GSM handsets.
 
What if something goes wrong with the application?
While chances of the IndiSMS application malfunctioning are remote, in case something does go wrong, simply delete the application from your handset and follow the simple downloading and activation procedures to begin using IndiSMS again.
